London Housing
Housing in London is tailored to cater for each particular group of students, but in all cases is centrally located with easy access to public transport links to the INSTEP classroom, administrative office, and the various entertainments and famous sights of the West End.
The housing itself consists of shared rooms (singles are rarely available) in self-catering apartments that include shared lounge, kitchen, and bathroom facilities. Kitchens are fully fitted, bedclothes and linen are provided (students need only bring their own towels), and the apartments are cleaned regularly. These apartments are within town houses or apartment blocks; they are well appointed, and located in safe, quiet neighborhoods.
At the beginning of each program, during orientation, students will meet with the Housing Officer along with the Program Administrator. This gives students the opportunity to ask about amenities near their houses (e.g. shops, cyber cafes), and which telephone services will best meet their needs during their stay in London. All students are given contact numbers for both the Housing Officer and the Program Administrator, as well as the Program Administrator's home number for 24 hour contact in case of emergency. The Housing Officer provides a quick-response service on matters of maintenance and repair, and makes supervisory visits on a weekly basis.
